Quality childcare and education for children from birth to five

Lower Hutt - Birch Street Centre team members

Lower Hutt staff - CarolMy name is Carol Milner and  I work as part of the management team for Childhood Concepts. My husband Patariki and I live in Lower Hutt and have four grown –up children who all still live in the Wellington area.

I have worked for Childhood Concepts for several years but have over 25 years of experience in early childhood education beginning with playcentre. I have worked in both home-based and centre environments and as well as having a teaching degree I have recently completed a post-graduate Diploma of Education.

I passionately believe that for children to develop to their full potential they need to feel secure in their environment and have strong bonds with their kaiako (teachers).  I have an ‘open-door’ policy to parents and whānau and appreciate any ideas, suggestions, comments you have to offer.

Lower Hutt Staff - Shannon

Hi, my name is Shannon Fraser.

I am the Centre Manager and also work as part of the management team at Childhood Concepts. I’ve worked at Childhood Concepts since 2009 and graduated with a Bachelor of Education in 2011.

I am passionate about education and building the foundation for children’s lifelong learning.

Also, I enjoy getting to know the children and their families and value the link between home and centre life.

My name is Henrietta (Henry) Tema Te Tau.

I have been working at Childhood Concepts for over 7 years and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

I am a qualified and registered teacher and what I love about working at Childhood Concepts is the whanau/family atmosphere, the cultural diversity (families and teachers), and the way our tamariki/children are respected and valued.

Lower Hutt Staff - Luisa

Bula.

My name is Luisa Bilo.  I am married with two children and am a very proud Fijian born.  I was raised in Lower Hutt.

My work at Childhood Concepts commenced in 2014.  I am truly blessed and grateful to be working in such a rewarding career and alongside an amazing team.  I like to think of this job, as one of the most important in the world, setting young minds up to become whatever they want in life.

I hope that every child that leaves Childhood Concepts, not only leaves with happy memories, but also with confidence and the skills they will need in life.  Children are so curious and open to learning.  I love having fun with them and watching them learn and grow.

Vinaka.

Lower Hutt Staff - Rhodora

Kumasta.

My name is Rhodora (Dora) Aquino.

I have lived in Lower Hutt since emigrating to New Zealand, with my husband Dennis and two daughters.

I started working at Childhood Concepts in 2013.  I believe children learn best when they are supported and guided by responsible, caring adults.  To be an early childhood teacher is a challenging role.  It involves continuous learning and improvement in practice, to provide worthwhile learning experiences for children.
